Like many other Americans, my sister and I planned a road trip vacation for the summer of 2021, thinking that would be a way to travel more safely in the throes of the Covid pandemic. We chose Yellowstone as our destination, and I came up with an itinerary that I hoped would break up the long drives with interesting sites and not be too strenuous with a one year old.
Let me tell you, this country has some gorgeous spots. We marveled at mountain views in Montana and Wyoming, got to see travertines (tambourines? trampolines?) and geysers and hot springs and canyons in Yellowstone, stayed one night on a ranch, and awed at the beautiful Badlands. Looking back at my photos from a year ago, I’m still struck by how consistently beautiful this trip was.
