I think maybe some of you don’t really know what I DO in Ecuador. Contrary to popular belief, I do actually fill my time with more than just salsa dancing. As a Senior English Language Fellow, I train English teachers. This means I travel to different parts of the country to give workshops and presentations to Ecuadorians who teach English at universities and high schools (usually there are a few elementary school teachers thrown into the mix as well). I present at national and regional conferences. I organize local training seminars. I consult with university English departments that are training future English teachers. I give webinars (online seminars) through the Embassy. I participate in meetings with the Ministry of Education. I maintain a blog for Ecuadorian English teachers to stay current on English teaching events and resources.
And when I’m not preparing training sessions, facilitating workshops, or writing reports about my presentations, I’ve been known to do a little salsa dancing.
